What is the National Traffic System?
The National Traffic System®, or NTS®, is a network that allows for rapid movement of traffic—or radiograms—from origin to destination. NTS helps to train radio amateurs in relaying messages accurately and in a timely fashion. It also reinforces good on-air procedures. Message relay and training form the basis of the National Traffic System.
Why Should I get involved in NTS?
Joining the National Traffic System is a fun way to improve your radio skills. Our daily practice with routine greetings ensures we are fully prepared to relay critical health, welfare, and emergency messages when disasters strike. Getting involved is simple. You can check into a local net with a basic 2-meter handheld radio or attend a training session over Zoom. More information is coming soon to this page, including an upcoming presentation on NTS for our Powhatan ARES group by our Virginia Section Manager, George Stone, WA1JQC.
